Brilliant location - 7 minutes walk to shopping area including mall, 10-15 minutes walk to The Spot for dining and movie theatres, also to light rail that takes you to SCG, QVB and Circular Quay. Also near Centennial Park and Randwick race course. Small park opposite with playground. Very quiet and safe area. Lovely, helpful staff and management. Air conditioning was excellent - very quick to cool the room down and also ran quietly. Room was spacious with very comfortable bed. A beautifully restored heritage building that was originally a large family home.

It was so charming! A stunning hotel with old world charm and amazing customer service, in the best location, beautiful park across the road, plenty of restaurants in walking distance, a short bus ride to Coogee and close to the race track. It’s lovely and clean with all the in room facilities you need- iron, small kitchen with tea & coffee and small fridge. Comfortable bed with extra pillows. Just perfect 👌

I've always booked CBD when staying in Sydney. Wanted to do Coogee to Bondi walk so checking out Coogee, stumbled upon Avonmore. What a little gem. Beautifully restored former mansion, overlooking Alison Park. Feels like you're nowhere near the city, but it's literally 15 mins on light rail from Central to Wansey Rd (one stop from royal Randwick) with a short 10 min walk up Alison Rd. We were upgraded to a king suite with a balcony overlooking the park. Beautifully restored room with a large balcony. On suite addition with shower super powerful. Our room (27) had an aircon and plenty of bathroom amenities. There was a fridge and cups and plates etc. Also plenty of supplies of coffee tea sugar and milk. The reception staff are very polite and helpful. Our room was ready at 12:30pm after we asked to store luggage as we were arriving around 12 noon. Super comfy beds. The room felt super luxurious. Sat having a drink on the balcony in the evening, watching different birds. Very quiet.

The hotel was beautiful and maintained well. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Our room was massive and the bed very comfortable. We paid extra to have an air conditioner in our room which worked when we left the room, but didnt feel like it was working the next morning (we forgot to mention this on check out - but am sure that the hotel staff would have been onto it straight away). We usually stay in the city, but as we were going to Randwick Races, we decided to stay somewhere closer with some friends also staying in the same hotel. We looked at other hotels within the area as well and thought this was the best of a bad bunch (from the reviews that people had written about them all) but this hotel was wonderful and some of the reviews didnt do it justice at all. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay again.

Ideal location. Heritage building so has atmosphere. The balcony overlooking the park was a real plus although this room did not have air conditioning but did have a ceiling fan. Ensuite bathroom compact but more than adequate. Thanks George and Matthew for giving us such a warm welcome and being able to check us in early after a long flight from UK. We visit family in the area and this is our accommodation of choice

The hotel is in a terraced villa from 1860s, overlooking a small park in the middle of Randwick. Fantastically charming, with stained-glass front door, real old furniture, floor mosaics... you name it. My room was spacious, very comfortable, and came with a fully equipped kitchenette (fridge, microwave, electric kettle, plates etc., even wine glasses and a corkscrew). Great for a longer stay when you don't want to eat in town all the time, or simply like to drink a mug of tea in the evening. There's even a washing machine and a dryer available to the hotel guests for a nominal fee. The neighborhood is pretty quiet and really nice. Easy access from Central by tram (L2), UNSW 20 mins away by foot. Coogee Beach 15 mins away by bus. Will stay there again if I am back in Sydney.

This hotel is a heritage building with a lot of character opposite a park. My room was on the 1st floor across a small landing from the main building, looking out onto a leafy green courtyard garden, so it was quiet and tranquil. If you like a modern style then look elsewhere - this hotel is traditional style, clean with a very comfortable bed and pillows, lovely clean bedding, plenty of windows that you can open, a ceiling fan, table and chairs and extra chair by the fireplace, en-suite shower room and small kitchenette area with fridge kettle and microwave. Room was as in the photos. Friendly reception staff and overall a comfortable and peaceful stay. It’s a slight uphill but pleasant 7 minute walk from the Lightrail stop (15 min ride from Central Station) and there are cafes and restaurants, chemist etc all within 3 minutes walk from the building. There’s also a nice cool shady veranda to sit out in at the front of the hotel where you can easily while away an hour with views of the park. I enjoyed my stay, felt safe (police station is at the end of the road!) and comfortable and would return again next time I need to stay in this location. Thank you for a good stay.

Our room was one of the best since staying at The Avonmore several times. We had a lovely balcony overlooking the park opposite with birds singing making us forget we were in a large city. Staff were excellent and couldn’t be more helpful. Style of room with original fireplace made it so authentic with added charm.

Staff were really accommodating to all requests and went above and beyond to make sure I had a pleasant stay. Great amenities including microwave and iron, for a really good price. Incredibly convenient location, close to buses and light rail.
